The Project
Vapensiero 366 – 024 (hereafter V366 – 024) is the first activation of an artistic device conceived to operate exclusively during leap years. Each leap year, the artist produces one Fujifilm instant photograph per day and intervenes it pictorially — in acrylic, oil, or both — without skipping a single day.
Each of the 366 works carries two numberings on the white Fujifilm border: its sequential position within the year (No./366, lower left) and the exact date it corresponds to in compressed format (DDMMYYYY, lower right). Each contains words or phrases encoded through the Vapensiero Alphabet, translating the experience of that specific day into a private visual language.
The work was produced across five countries — Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Venezuela — and in transit: on aircraft, in hospital waiting rooms, through grief and loss. Two deaths. No day deferred.
The Premise
Although its production followed strict chronology, the final installation does not obey a linear sequence. Its arrangement responds to the project’s central premise:
Time is linear. Identity is not.
The work is presented here in chronological order of production. The physical installation will not.
The Archive
Alongside the 366 interventions, the artist kept seventeen handwritten diaries — Clairefontaine notebooks in which each piece is documented with photographs of the day, a handwritten decipherment of its alphabet inscriptions, and a written account of what occurred. The diaries constitute a parallel archive: not explanatory, but testimonial.

From inside it, TIME emerges from the I, END from the E. LIVE is contained within ALIVE itself. Everything built from a single word. The entire cycle of life, encrypted in a lift.
The Investigation
V366 – 024 is not a concluded project. It is the first activation of a system designed to be reactivated during each subsequent leap year — 2028, 2032, and beyond. Each cycle will produce a new body of 366 works under the same structural rules, generating a longitudinal investigation into identity through time.
The work is conceived as a capsule: 366 interventions brought together in a single installation, accompanied by a digital system that enables the viewer to navigate the work non-linearly.
